In the content area on 'Popular Tactics', we explored ten well-known tactics. I will be providing more for this section, yet I would like to ask you to engage and tell me about your experiences?
Apart from the best tactics discussed in the first slide, this is a recap to serve as a guideline to your negotiation and that is open to discussions:
- Preparing your negotiations will make all the difference - Until you create value, any price is too high - Be assertive on both substance and relationship - When team negotiating, provide specific roles to the individuals - When emotions run high, stop focusing on the problem and start focusing on people - Negotiating is an interactive activity, so you won't always do everything in a strict order - Discussing no-agreement alternatives is a critical tool of win-win negotiating - Respond to position or demand statements with interest questions - You can use an expand the pie approach regardless of what the other side does - Effective negotiators don't just listen to words, they listen to words, they listen for what the other side does - Walk directly to the BATNA instead of being defensive
